A new three-concert series
With Gon Halevi – composer, singer & pianist
Nir Cohen-Shalit Conductor
After seven years of a successful career in New York – Gon Halevi – composer, singer, pianist and graduate of the “Mannes School of Music”, returns to Israel and brings with him exciting musical performances that are held all over the country to great acclaim.
Among the projects are “Childhood Soundtrack” – an evening of tribute to the great Israeli Songbook and the “Blackbird” project – in which Gon takes Beatles songs and arranges them for a string orchestra in a way which has never been heard before.
In his work, he perfectly combines the past and the present. The classic meets the modern and the waves of emotion that emanate from the orchestra tell a story larger than life.
Especially for the series, Gon chose to create the “Gospel” project, which will be presented here in its world premiere. Gon gives us the DNA of the neighborhood where he lived during his stay in New York – Harlem! His musical journey through the church and through Gospel music takes on a rich orchestral dimension alongside particularly surprising guest singers.
